Mrs. Burris	Today Burris Disposal Service's trademark cream and brown trucks can be seen throughout a wide area of Southern Illinois, serving residents, business, and industry. Ed and Lily Burris established Burris Disposal Service in 1958, going door-to-door to promote their services in Carbondale. Over the past forty years, the company has seen its share of triumph and tragedy. Many aspects of the waste industry have changed dramatically since Ed knocked on that first door. Burris Disposal Service provides free services for several community non-profit organizations and causes! We help Keep Carbondale Beautiful at the annual spring clean up in Carbondale. We have provided waste services to Habitat for Humanity for years. We think these are great ways to give back to our community.

Jackson-Union County Habitat for Humanity is an affiliate of the international non-profit housing effort dedicated to eliminating homelessness and substandard housing worldwide. We build homes in Jackson and Union counties. Volunteer workers and donations are always welcome. For more information call 618-457-2416 or send inquiries to Jackson-Union Habitat for Humanity, P.O. Box 1064, Carbondale, IL 62901. To qualify for housing a person must currently live in substandard housing, be willing to work 300 hours on a Habitat home, and purchase their home at cost through a no-interest payment plan to Habitat.
